Vacation.
I would love to have many vacations. Just take time to explore and see the world. There’s one problem about vacations, though. If you travel somewhere, it usually costs money, unless you have connections to get a place to stay. Even then, it costs something, even without the hotel.
Vacation.
Another issue? Time off from work. Sure, many people get the time off but you have to try and do it around projects or work seasons etc. It kind of stinks sometimes because you might have ideas and then realize you can’t for whatever reason.
Vacation.
Have you ever noticed, though, that vacations often aren’t as relaxing as one might hope? After all, when you go on vacation, you often have a ton of things planned. You do different things, visit different places and eat all sorts of food. When you get home, if you are lucky, you might have a day or so to get ready to go back to work.
Vacation.
Even with all that in mind, who doesn’t want to get away? It’s hard to deny how nice it can be to go somewhere else and kind of see a different side of life. Whether it’s roughing it in the woods, or getting pampered at some resort, or chilling on a nice beach. It’s just great to get away, isn’t it?
Vacation.
One of the toughest things one can do with a vacation is plan where to go and when to do it. If you travel abroad, then the reality is you have to figure out seasons etc. Also, you have to see what kind of money you will spend and all that. It’s not easy to plan it all out, that’s for sure.
Vacation.
Family. Friends. Solo. When looking at a vacation, you have to look at who is going with you, if anybody. Maybe you are going to a place where you’d rather have the experience of being alone. Maybe it’s a family place where you are taking your spouse and kids, such as Disney. Or, maybe it’s a guys or girls getaway. Either way, that all has to be taken into consideration and then tell anybody who might not be going so feelings aren’t hurt.
Vacation.
Or, should you just have a staycation? It’s the newest fad, it seems. Stay in, chill, and just catch up on life. No worries about extra funds, but time off. Downside, if you are around and something happens with work, you might be more tempted to “pitch in.”
Vacation.
Is it worth it in the end? To put yourself through all sorts of things just to maybe get away for a little bit? There are headaches and issues and all sorts of other issues just so you can take a week or so that flies by and before you know it, is over.
Vacation.
Totally worth it. Why? Because you get to grow as a person or family or group of friends. You get to enjoy something. You get to see a new place or experience something you’ve done before. But more than anything, if you choose to get away, you get to disappear for a bit. If you stay home, hopefully you get to sleep in some, relax and get some things done.
Vacation.
No matter what you do, take the time you’ve earned and use it.

Are vacations worth it? Definitely. Are they a lot of work? Sometimes, yes. Are they always relaxing? Not on something like a sightseeing vacation where you have something planned everyday. Those are fun, but tiring.
Bottom line. Take your vacation and do something you will enjoy, near or far, busy or just chilling.
I fully agree with you on this one. I always like to mix up the vacations. I’ve had the in-depth planned ones and the ones where I basically freestyle, which is always nice, too!
One of the reasons I really enjoy my vacation time is that I have these long breaks, so I can schedule time to take a week and just go somewhere. When I return, I always have more time to decompress from even the most busy of vacations.

I think having an extra day to decompress is extremely important with vacations where they are packed and so much going on. If not, you never get back down to earth on an easy way — it’s more crashing. I’ve done both before and it’s definitely better when there’s one or two days built in to just relax.
