Maine is the winner.
After much research and everything else, I’ve decided I’m going to go to Maine in the fall. My goal is to leave on a Thursday afternoon (I would leave early, but with teaching classes…) and drive/cache my way to Portland, Maine and spend a night there.
The next day, I’ll cache my way to Bar Harbor, hopefully arriving mid-afternoon.
That will give me two full days in Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park. I don’t plan on sleeping in, either, so I’m hoping to have full days.
The hope and idea of this trip is some relaxation, photography, some geocaching and maybe even some disc golf. I’m looking forward to eating some good food and just being able to be at peace a little.
Ireland was relaxing and fun, just in a different way.
For those of you who have never been to Maine, it really is amazing. The beauty is striking and I could sit in one spot just staring for hours. It’s the idea of a small trip like this. I’ll be in control of what I want to do. There’s a chance one other might go, but if I’m solo — well, it’s nice to be able to do whatever I want.
The camera will be revved up. I’ll make sure to have everything in order as I want to cache and take many photographs.
Speaking of caching…
I’m usually a paperless cacher, but for this one I think I’ll be printing out many of the pages — especially Earthcaches and virtuals. I’ll probably bind them like a playbook. Will help me keep organized I think.
It will also help me have all the Earthcache info with me. I hope to do 10-20 Earthcaches. ESPECIALLY the one sponsored by Acadia National Parks. Looks insanely cool and fun.
I’ll start working on my plans. Hopefully nothing gets in the way of this trip. I just need to select the weekend and get the time off.
Something else to look forward to!
More later!
