Trying to make the list

So on one of the stat programs I use with my geocaching profile, there’s a way to come up with a list of sorts — all your favorite caches.

I plan on undertaking that soon, but it’s not going to be easy to go through and come up with the answers for 1,620 cache finds!

Anyway, the ones that are with the program are the following:

  • All-time favorite
  • Most memorable
  • Favorite multi
  • Most difficult find
  • Most difficult terrain
  • Most scenic
  • Best Hike
  • Cleverest hide

You can also make your own categories. I am trying to come up with the ones I want to have. So far, I have the following:

  • Best micro
  • Most thinking
  • Most sentimental
  • Funniest hide
  • All-time favorite event
  • All-time favorite Earthcache
  • All-time favorite Webcam
  • All-time favorite Virtual

I will also have a top-10 list with this — such as my 10 all-time favorites etc.

Is there anything on this list you would add? I am going to try and get it all set so I can update it soon and make it easy for me to change when it happens over time etc. Post in the comments section if you have an idea.

I placed the order for my Christmas pathtag. I haven’t decided if I will be showing it before the Christmas season or not, however! I’ve approved the blueprint, so it’s in production. I expect the tag in late November or early December.

The main goal of this tag is for the Christmas Tag Exchange on the pathtags forum. The concept is simple — you offer to trade a certain amount of tags (say 50). So, you’ll be sent 50 addresses to send tags to. You make out a card and attach the tag and send it along.

In the end, you’ll also get 50 tags.

I’m looking forward to this, not only as a way to expand my pathtag collection, but to have a little fun with them as well. I hope to see many cool Christmas tags!

Speaking of pathtags, I’m in the midst of wanting to order several designs, but it will be over time because of the cost. The ones I will be doing soon enough are:

  • My 2010 personal tag (hopefully around January)
  • My tag for the mascots club (only 50 to be made, maybe later this month)
  • My tag for the trip to Ireland (sometime around April)

I have others in my mind — such as if I can find a way to afford to go out to the Midwest Geobash this year. I’d love to have a tag for that, but we’ll have to see. Vacation time has to be done well and I have to be able to afford doing things such as that. Plus, who knows where I’ll be or what I’ll be planning next August, right?

As for some other geocaching items, I have a couple of events I hope to attend next year — both mega events. The Allegany Geobash in May and the Midwest Geobash in August.

Outside of that, my one big geocaching “trip” will be when I go to Ireland next summer. I’m planning one full day of geocahing and will also be looking to grab a few caches here and there when I am out and about.

That’s a trip I can’t wait for.

I’ve already starting saving for it and I’m about 1/6 of where I want to be. I’m hoping the stash will keep building and my income tax return will give it a big push, too!

Anyway, that’s it for about now.

More later!

Just looked up the Midwest Geobash, Didn’t know it was in Ohio. Too bad I will have just been there in July for a wedding. Booo.

Sounds like you have a busy schedule ahead of you!

As for you best/all time stuff – how about Best Photo Ops? I usually find those around virtual or earth caches – though I guess this category could go with the scenic stuff…

The stats idea is certainly interesting. I think I need to get off of this island in order to take advantage of something like that. Although, getting an early start like this would definitely help keep things organized!

Erika — Photo op is a good idea. I’ll jot that one down as a possibility!

Gunny — being on the Island wouldn’t hamper your stats. The programs are quite fun either way!

Nick — awesome! I’m looking forward to it. Although a lot can change between now and then, so I’m just hoping at this point!
