When I arrived back from Ireland and my first day back to work, I had to re-submit a timecard I had submitted before I went on vacation. While there, I asked about remaining vacation time so I knew for sure what was left.
Turns out I have an extra week (not even a furlough!) of paid vacation this year.
So, I’m going to try and find a weekend in October where I don’t have any games to cover and I can take off from a Thursday to a Tuesday. The goal will be to leave Thursday after class and head somewhere and come back that Monday night. I’d return to work Tuesday or Wednesday, thus using a few more vacation days.
I had talked to a couple of others about going, but not sure what will come of that. This will likely be a trip with heavy emphasis on photography and geocaching, not so much being a “tourist.”
So I’ve narrowed it down to two choices.
Maine (specifically Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park)
or
Seattle (and being able to do the “Trifecta” in geocaches — original spot, APE and Groundspeak headquarters).
Financially, Maine will likely be cheaper as I can drive to it. Hotels will be hotels in regard to prices, but I’d have to also rent a car in the Seattle area and do a lot of extra traveling. That seems like it would be a better trip done with others, but who knows.
I’ve been to Bar Harbor before. It’s amazing. I didn’t get to spend as much time in Acadia then as I likely would now (I wasn’t as “outdoorsy” back then), so that would be a bonus. If traveling solo, it might be a spiritual, head-clearing trip that I could probably use.
It’s a tough call, so I figured I’d come to the blog world… what do you think? Reasons?
In the end, I’ll make my decision based on several factors. But it’s always nice to see what people think.
More later!
